Day 6 - "Your Name Has Changed"
Day 6 - "Your Name Has Changed"
We all know the story about the woman with the issue of blood. For 12 years she had a bleeding issue. But it wasn’t just that. We don’t know her name. All she is referred to by everyone is the woman with the issue of blood or woman with the blood issue. Where everything changed for her is when she made the decision to get closer to Jesus. She knew if she could just touch His garment she would be healed. She drew closer, her faith was strong and her name was about to change.
Luke 8:47-48 says, “Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
Not only did the woman get her healing, but her name was changed. Jesus didn’t call her the woman with the blood issue. He said, “Daughter.” You see? You came to Him because you are His. You are His son and daughter. Everyone else in the world may see you as the person with the issues. God sees you differently. Do you see what happens when you draw close to Jesus and fall at His feet? He calls you something different than everyone else has been calling you.
My encouragement for you today is no matter what “issue” you have been labeled as, get to the feet of Jesus. Grab a hold of Him and get what you have been praying for. Know this - You are NOT your issue! You are a child of God! Walk in the name change today. Walk in your purpose. Walk in you calling!
Prayer - “God, help me to see myself the way you do. Thank you for calling me a son/daughter. Thank you for allowing me to approach you at any moment. I am not my issue anymore. I am a child of God and I will walk in it. Give me the strength to not forget that when I am crawling through a crowd of problems. Help me to persevere. Thank you for my new name. Thank you that my name is not alcohol. It’s not anger. It’s not addiction. It’s not liar. It is son. It is daughter. Amen.”
