"God is my Portion"
“God is my Portion”
“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I HOPE in Him!” Lamentations 3:24
Sometimes I randomly open my Bible and read. I believe God can give us exactly what we need when we earnestly search His Word...as is the case this morning.
As I read Lamentations chapter 3, I could almost feel the despair and defeat in Jeremiah's words as he poured out his soul in verses 1-2O. Let me say right here, although my faith is strong, the battle is real!!! I've had a couple of meltdowns and fear has tried to sneak in...but not today!!! I'm pretty sure, if we are honest, we have all felt a little like Jeremiah did in this passage...BUT GOD!
When we read further we see that Jeremiah doesn't remain in that same negative, downtrodden mindset! In verse 21 his words and his whole attitude changes. Why? Because he remembers Who is in control "Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this." He remembers he has a HOPE. He remembers in every situation, no matter what obstacle he has faced, God has always been in the midst! "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. 'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in Him'.” Lamentations 3:22-24. Yes, Jeremiah knew where his help came from and SO DO I!!
I know without a doubt, God alone is my "portion" and I know exactly where and Who my help comes from! God's love, His grace, His very presence is all I need regardless of what curve ball life may throw my way! "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26. Until we truly know God is our "portion" we can't have that unwavering hope! Do you know Him?
So today, I am boldly proclaiming GOD IS MY PORTION! He has never failed me and He is not about to fail me now. "The LORD is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him." Lamentations 3:25.
