"Divine Blessings and Spiritual Grace"

Divine Blessings and Spiritual Grace

“The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you." ~Deuteronomy 28:8.

The Hebrew word for "blessing" used in the above scripture is berakah which means a divine blessing, spiritual grace, or continuous increase from God. If you could take the scripture out of context it might read, "The Lord will command continuous increase over you in everything you put your hand to". Wouldn't it be wonderful if everything we touched turned to gold; that there would never be sickness or death; there would never be another catastrophic event and life would be a sweet bed of roses. Yes, that would be wonderful but, that's not reality!

Deuteronomy 28 is sometimes referred to as the chapter of blessings and curses. The chapter begins with Moses telling the Israelites, "If you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments...all these blessings will come on you ..." [v1-2]. The next 12 verses then list the blessings the Israelites would receive if they obeyed the commands God had given them.  However, if they chose to disobey those commands then they would suffer from many awful curses which are laid out in verses 15-68. That is fourteen verses of blessings and fifty three verses of curses...let that sink it! Let me tell you, I'm not going to be out worshipping idols but I do mess up and make mistakes often. Can you imagine living in fear of God putting a curse on you or your family. Thank you Heavenly Father for Your Amazing Grace!

Because of Jesus and His precious blood that He shed at Calvary we have the promise of divine blessings and spiritual grace without the worry of curses. We may not have the promise of wealth and prosperity in this old world but what we have is a far greater promise! "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ."~Ephesians 1:3.
I would much rather have spiritual blessings, eternal life and the sweet peace that can only be found in a relationship with my precious Savior over anything this world has to offer!

Yes, there are still some consequences to face when we disobey God's Word but we also have the promise that Jesus' blood has covered our sins and washed us clean...forever! "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" ~John 3:16. I am so thankful His grace covers all my ugly mistakes.

Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? Have you been washed in the blood? Do you have the promise of eternal life? If not, I encourage you to ask Him to come into your heart today! There is no amount of money that can buy the love, joy, peace, divine blessings, and spiritual grace you will receive when you give your heart to God! Please, don't wait another day, He is waiting with arms open wide...run to Jesus.
