Day 2 - "Say Goodbye"
Day 2 - "Clean Out"
It is hard to say goodbye to people we love. It is even hard to say goodbye to things we hold close. There are many things that have always been a priority to us. What are those things? Sports? Social Media? Friends? Career? Phone? It really could be anything. During this time of prayer and fasting, what is something we need to have a clean out on? What is something that needs to be cut out of your life so you can replace it with God or time spent with Him?
Ephesians 4:22-24 says, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
We starve our souls of things that replace God when we put off our old selves. We clean out the things that had us in one place. As the scripture reveals, we were deceived by our desires. Our own wants had us deceived that they were the most important things. Today we are being made new because we are changing the attitude of our minds. We are changing our mindset on what our priorities are. We put on that new self by exemplifying righteousness and holiness.
So what are some things we need to clean out in your life today as you pray and fast? What things need to be invited in your life? What are the replacements? Take a moment to focus on aligning your priorities where God becomes number 1 in all areas of your life.
Prayer - “God we thank you for showing us where some things we desire can also be distractions. We thank you that we have you as a replacement because you are who we desire most. Help us to stay on the path of making you first in all areas of our lives. We invite you into our daily routine as we remove anything in your way. We love you. Amen.”
