"Don't Rush The Season"

Don’t Rush the Season

There is nothing wrong with looking forward to what lies ahead, but sometimes we spend so much of our lives waiting for the next thing. We cannot wait to find the right relationship, move into a new house, finish school, get a new job, or get through a difficult season. But sometimes we become so focused on what is ahead that we forget to appreciate where God has us at this moment.
Not every season is meant to be rushed through. There may be something God wants to teach you. There may be memories He wants you to make or growth within you that need to happen.
Sometimes we pray, “God, get me through this,” when sometimes the prayer simply needs to be, “God, show me what You want me to see while I am here.” Do not become so focused on tomorrow that you miss God’s blessings today.
You do not have to have everything figured out. You do not have to be where you thought you would be by now. You can keep moving forward while still being grateful for where God has you today.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reads, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” This reminds us that life happens in seasons, and each season has its own purpose. We often want to rush through the uncomfortable seasons so we can get to something better or easier.
However, when we are always looking ahead, we can miss God’s blessings and what He may be doing in us right where we are.
Reflection
Am I so focused on what is next that I am missing what God has given me today?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me not rush through the season. Remind me to notice what You are doing right now. Help me appreciate the opportunities, the people, and the blessings You have given me. Give me patience in the waiting and trust in Your timing. Help me to learn in this season and help me enjoy the moments I may someday wish I could have back.
In Your precious name, Amen.
