"What You Allow In"

"What You Allow In"

Each day, we make choices about what we allow into our lives. Sometimes, we reach for things that temporarily fill an emptiness inside us. It might be food, social media, shopping, alcohol, or unhealthy relationships. These things might make us feel good, but they can become substitutes for what our soul truly needs.
What we surround ourselves with can influence our hearts and our relationship with God. Scripture reminds us to guard our hearts because what we allow in eventually affects what comes out of us.
Something can make us feel good without making us whole. Temporary relief is not the same as true fulfillment.
Don’t settle for something that only temporarily fills you when God offers something that will truly satisfy your soul.
Philippians 4:8 encourages us to focus our minds on things that are true, noble, pure, lovely, and of good report.
Scripture:
“I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger.”
— John 6:35
Reflection Question:
Is what I'm allowing in bringing me closer to God or simply helping me escape?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Today, I ask You to help me recognize anything I have been using to fill a place that belongs to You. Help me replace it with things that nourish my soul. Help me stay focused on true fulfillment, which only comes from You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
