"When Our Priorities Get Out Of Order"

When Our Priorities Get Out of Order

There is always something that needs our attention—family, plans, responsibilities, work, and problems that need to be solved. Life has a way of filling every available space. Doing these things is not wrong. They are important. The problem comes when what is important takes the place of what is most important.
Jesus gives us a simple order: Seek God first.
Our responsibilities will always be there. God doesn’t want us to pencil Him in after everything settles down or when we have extra time. Seek Him first. We can become so busy with the life God has given us that we unintentionally neglect our relationship with the One who gave it to us. We may say God is first, but where we spend our time can sometimes tell a different story. When we put God first, everything else begins to find its proper place. God doesn’t want us to stop caring about our responsibilities. He invites us to put Him at the center of them.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” — Matthew 6:33
Reflection
Is there something good in my life that I have allowed to become more important than my
relationship with God?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, there are many things competing for my attention, and sometimes I become focused on what feels important in the moment instead of what is truly important. Teach me to seek You first. I want You to be more than a part of my life. I want You to be at the center of it.
In Your precious name, Amen.
