"Show Us Your Glory"

Show Us Your Glory

In Ex. 33:18-23, Moses asked God to show him his glory. The Lord told Moses that he would cause ALL of His goodness to pass in front of him, but Moses was not allowed to see God‘s face because no one could see the face of God and live.  He instructed Moses to stand on this rock, and when God‘s glory passes by, he will put Moses in the crevice of the rock and cover him with his hand until he has passed by then he will remove his hand, and Moses will see his back. Wow! I was thinking about how many times I didn’t realize that God was right in the middle of my situation until it was over, and then I could see that God was all in it, but he had placed me in the crevice of the rock for protection. He had covered me with his hand. Notice that I put an emphasis on ALL. That shows me that God wants us to have everything that He has for us. ALL of His goodness was passing by Moses! What a sight that must have been! In the New Testament Paul directly identifies Jesus as the rock in first Corinthians 10:4. Cody Carnes sings a song called “He Won’t.” The first line says, “Christ is my firm foundation, the Rock on which I stand.” God instructed Moses to stand on the Rock. He then told him that He would cause ALL His goodness to pass by Moses. Then it says he placed Moses in the crevice of the Rock. God has called us to stand on the Rock, which is Jesus and he will do the rest.
Father, just like Moses, I asked that you show us your glory. Help us to stand firm on the Rock, which is Jesus, and let you do what only you can do.
