"The Delay That Protected You"

The Delay That Protected You

Have you ever been running late and a red light or a flight delays you? You can’t find your keys.
Something you spend time planning does not happen when you think it would, and you feel
frustration. We see the delay, but God sees what is ahead.
We may never know how many times God has protected us through a delay. Proverbs 16:9
remind us that we can make our plans, but ultimately the Lord establishes our steps. We
sometimes ask God to guide us, protect us, and direct our path. However, when He allows our plans to change, we may become frustrated because His direction does not look the way we expected. Sometimes protection may look like a detour or delay.
Instead of immediately becoming frustrated when something slows you down, take a moment and remember only God can see what is ahead. And that delay could have been an answered prayer.
You can trust the One who sees the road ahead.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” — Proverbs 16:9

Reflection:
Has there been a time when something did not happen according to your plans? When you look back, can you see how the delay may have protected you or worked for your good?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me trust You when things do not happen according to my plans. When I become impatient, remind me that You see what I cannot see. Give me wisdom when plans change and peace in the waiting. Thank You for always protecting me, even when I cannot see.
In Your precious name, Amen.
