God Is Near To The Brokenhearted

Growing up, my sister was very sickly. In her younger years she was in and out of hospitals a lot. I remember my mama always telling me to help my sister because I was strong, but she was not. She told me my whole life that I was strong, but she told my sister that she was sick. She spoke blessings over me without even knowing it. Because that was spoken over me, I grew up, believing I was strong, and I could overcome anything. But here’s the thing. When you are told you are strong because you have to be strong to carry someone else, that’s a problem. The problem is, when you fall, and you will fall, the fall is great! We are not created to be strong on our own. It took a lot of brokenhearted days to discover that God doesn’t expect me to carry anyone or anything on my own. Thank you Lord for Psalm 34:18 that says the Lord is near to the brokenhearted. Over the past two years there have been a lot of brokenhearted days, but because I have such a strong will I felt like I was doing something wrong by showing weakness and I shouldn’t be showing any kind of weakness. It was easier to suffer in silence. God is not only near to the brokenhearted,  He reminds in 2 Cor 12:9-10, “ For the sake of Christ, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for when I am weak I am made strong.
So may I  encourage you today? You don’t have to endure anything alone, reach out! Call somebody that you trust. They will pray with you and love on you. Psalm 30:5 reminds us that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning . I promise you! God IS near to the brokenhearted.
